Postpartum Doula Services
My goal is to fill in gaps in support to allow you to sleep when your baby sleeps, eat when your baby eats, and generally attend to your own needs while attending to your baby’s. As you gain confidence, form a deeper connection with your baby, and develop the routine and flexibility necessary to care for your baby, these gaps will naturally close, and I will have happily *phased* myself out of a job!
What does postpartum care entail?
My role as a postpartum doula is based on your family’s specific needs, varying day-to-day, hour-to-hour, even minute-to-minute. We may develop a rough plan for care one day that gets completely derailed the next. And that’s ok! My job is to help you prioritize, to establish routine, as well as the flexibility to deviate when necessary. As your doula, I can support you through:
-
Breast/chestfeeding and pumping
-
Baby care: diapering, bathing, nail cutting, swaddling
-
Referrals, product/resource recommendations, and evidence-based research
-
Grocery shopping, meal preparation and postpartum nourishment
-
Simple abdominal and pelvic floor exercises
-
Coordinating familial support; giving family the confidence and competence necessary to care for Mama and baby
-
Lending a hand; I’m an expert hugger, rocker, and holder of your baby while you take the opportunity to shower or nap
-
Lending an ear; listening to your birth story, your fears, frustrations, and concerns without judgement or condescension
Meal preparation, you say?
Yes! It is one of my most passionate beliefs that the key to postpartum healing is proper nourishment. As time allows, I will be more than happy to prepare you wholesome, filling, and delicious meals/snacks packed with protein, healthy fats, whole grains, and nutrient-dense vegetables. Food, after all, is love.
